Welcome - - - Our city certainly lives up to the meaning of its name, which is made from words that mean "beautiful mountain". Belmont was settled in the 1800's by farmers, dairymen, merchants and others. Today it is a city of about 26,000 residents.
    Public schools are ranked as some of the best in the state. There are nine public and parochial schools, and the high school is in the highest ranked district in the county. There is also Notre Dame de Namur University, a 4-year, co-educational university.
    The city is known for its Art and Wine Festival each year in the fall. In addition, it offers a wide range of community activities and classes for all ages.
